Ever wondered what happens if God unplugs us ?!
Wait! You may say, God has promised to never leave us nor forsake us, right ? So, why will He even leave us in such a state ?!
Let me make this clear,
“Unplug” is a familiar term used to refer to a “Device or an extension cord’s ” state of being disconnected from its power source.
Although we haven’t seen God face-to-face, we have experienced his being with us through His Presence, His endless supply of our needs through His provisions, and His security upon us through the protection He gives us every day.
So what could we be possibly be unplugged from ?
it can be,
– His Protection
– His Provision – Jeremiah 23:39
– His Presence. Jeremiah 7:15, Psalm 51:11
in our lives.
So with that being clear.
Imagine that state of life when God unplugs you. If you were to wake up one morning and realize that you have lost his Presence. Imagine, the time of your life, no matter what you do; you always fail and you meet with an accident wherever you go or you always find that a strange entity is following you. Your heart is filled with fear.
I know a person, wherever she went, was chased by an eagle.
I hope that is clear enough. If not let me know in the comments below.
What causes God to unplug us ?
One of the first and foremost reason why God would unplug is,
“God opposes the Proud but shows favor to the humble.” James 4:6
The Bible is very clear about Pride in James 4:6; Proud behavior is one of the “Sins” that God will stand against. The whole world can stand against you, darkness may rage in your life but if God is on your side then no man can go against you. But, imagine, what if God is against you; who can you seek for help ?
“Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.” Deuteronomy 8:11.
God is gracious when we disobey him but after a certain point our disobedience can cause him to unplug us. God requires and demands obedience from our lives. The bible also clearly says “..to obey is better than Sacrifice.” 1 Samuel 15:22.
- Failure to praise & worship Him.
“When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.” Deuteronomy 8:10
“I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.” Psalm 18:3
Worshiping God is an inevitable task all of us are indebted with. We are to Praise and worship him every day for all that he has done in our life. If we fail to make worship our life style and don’t praise him for all the good things.
What happens when He unplugs us?
When God takes his Protection away from us. We start living in fear; afraid of someone following us, disturbing us but we will never be able to find out who that is.
When God takes his Provision away; We will lose the good life that God has given. We will run into debt and end up in poverty.
When God takes his Presence away: This is the most dreadful thing that can ever happen
When the Presence goes away;
- You lose peace
- Confusions will over-take you
- Your emotions will be out of control
- You will complain and murmur about everything
- Most of all, you will fail to understand the reason why you live life.
That is why Moses said, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” Exodus 33:15.
In the New Living translation, it says, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place.”
Why does He unplug us?
God unplugs us so that we realize the state we have brought ourselves into and run back to him. When life’s problem seems to bog us down and loose his presence. We need to run back to him.
- He unplugs us so that we can understand the after-effects of our sin. Daniel 9:5
- He unplugs us so that we can renew our commitment with him. Joshua 24:14-26
- He unplugs us so that we seek to restore our self in him. Psalm 51:12
A secret to understand is that satan is always ready to attack and destroy us but God protects us from all such problems. If God were to remove his protection, provisions, presence from our life then we will be immediately over taken and destroyed by satan.
So, in conclusion, how do we react when we feel we’ve been unplugged?
Do we look for our own means to make our self-happy ? or do we look unto God and ask him to cleanse us from all sins ?
David, pleaded with God after he committed the sin of Murder and adultery. He pleaded with God, to save him and to restore him. God forgave him and restored him back.
We could do the same as what David did. Ask for forgiveness; plead with God to forgive us of our guilt, renew our commitment and seek to restore. And then we will be plugged back into his presence.
Let’s take this decision.
If at any point If you feel down. Pray that God will restore you back into his presence, give his provisions and his protection.
Remember to seek God, depend on his Presence for your existence. You will live a productive God-pleasing, God-Centered Christian life.
