For my Night Devotion, I was meditating on the 2 Timothy chapter 1. As I was read, i stumbled upon a beautiful passage that I want to share on this blog; to the rest of the world.
2 Timothy 1:7 (It’s much more deeper in the MESSAGE Translation.)
God doesn’t want us to be shy with his gifts, but bold and loving and sensible.
This is a beautiful passage.
To show the context of this verse, one verse above, Paul encourages timothy to keep gifts of ministry alive.
2 Timothy 1:6 (NIV)
For this reason I remind you to fan into the flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
Paul encourages Timothy on a very important part of minstry. “Keep the gifts Alive.” To all of us who are in the ministry. We are given gifts; we have identified some and some are yet to be discovered. The gifts that came upon us when we were ordained into the ministry by laying on of hands by our Pastors, or Christian Leaders. It may be the gift of Preaching, healing, singing, leading worship, prophecy or any gift. Paul encourages to keep it alive.
And here’s the important part. Something that we need to understand about gifts.
God gives us those gifts so that we can use it in a daring and bold way and love and prudence. Gifts are not given to be kept aside but to be exercised. When we exercise them, we start seeing God’s mighty work being displayed in the ministry.
Because gifts are given to display the glory of God and not Man. When gifts are exercised God gets the glory.
